- Namaqualand - From mid-winter the wild flowers begin to bloom. This exhibition takes places along the west coast of South Africa.
- Sardine Run - KwaZulu Natal places host to the phenomenon that is the Sardine Run. Millions of sardines migrate up the coast from the Eastern Cape and with them a multitude of predators are attracted. Sharks, birds and game fish are all in hot pursuit. You can snorkel, scuba dive or simply watch from the beach or a boat.
- Sharks - Seal Island is always a fantastic outing to view the Great White Sharks, as they are always more lively during the winter months. You can view them from the surface (safely), or if you're looking to get up close and personal you can do a bit of Shark Cage Diving in Gansbaai or Mossel Bay.
- Hiking - On a sunny winters day its exquisite to a bit of hiking. Because of the decrease in temperature during winter, you don't need to be up before dawn to evade the heat of the sun. The hikes are then more enjoyable, you can hike for longer and the sights are just more beautiful when you're not burning up.
- White Water rafting - During the cooler months, the Cape rivers aren't as dried up, along for more exhilaration on the rapids.
- Game Sighting - the dry season makes for great game viewing. The tall grasses are not there for the animals to hide behind. The waterholes are more populated and the heat isn't so scorching. Night time can get a little chilly so make sure you have the appropriate attire for the evening cold.
- Kirstenbosch – The Protea Garden is outstanding during winter. The conebushes, the proteas and the serrurias are in full flowering and it's just a fantastic experience.
- Beach Capacity - During winter, the beaches aren't as packed and its easier to relaxed without being too squashed. However in the Cape, the water is freezing cold, so only the brave go swimming. In KZN the waters are still warm so bathing is still a good idea
